I was having a discussion with someone on LinkedIn and was asked for my opinion on a few of the major social networks. I’m still learning about social media marketing but these are my observations based on what I currently know and have experienced.

Blogging and social media marketing can be time consuming, especially if you’re a one-person company. I simply don’t have the time to devote large amounts of my day to being active on networks or blogging. As a result, I try to find ways to be efficient and have found doing things in bulk and automating the mundane parts of my social media efforts to be really helpful.

Social media marketing is increasingly becoming my primary method for promoting my company. I am active on a few social media networks and have been for a few years now. However, I consider myself to be an advanced newbie so I’m always on the lookout for new resources (books, blogs, etc.) that offer tips and advice. A few months back I heard about Shama Hyder Kabani’s book: “The Zen of Social Media Marketing” (2010) and decided to check it out.

“BrandSimple: How the Best Brands Keep it Simple and Succeed” by Allen P Adamson is a book about branding which can help readers understand branding theory and take steps towards creating or refining their company’s brand.
